Who are We? and What are We About?

The IWMS

The Irrigation Water Management Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the wise and efficient use of water in landscape, golf and agriculture. We do not encourage, or discourage the use of water for irrigation. However, if water is used for irrigation, we would like to help it be used efficiently.

We strive to achieve this goal through several approaches:

• The IWMS website has useful scheduling and water budget calculators that can be adapted by our staff for any location*.
• We download data from a network of weather stations and post ET and rainfall data for various locations and can do so for almost any locale upon request*.
• We have created and sponsor a national certification program called the Certified Site Water Planner (CSWP) for those who wish to become educated and recognized as professionals who deal with water management planning for landscape and/or golf sites.
• We participate at regional and national levels with many diverse organizations and agencies to work together towards efficient water use.
• We host an event calendar on our site where organizations can enter and post information about any national or international water conservation event. Our goal is to make this a central location for people to find information about water conservation meetings and events.
• We are constantly looking for new and innovative ways to fulfill our primary goals.

The IWMS is not a trade association. We do not even require formal membership or dues. Individuals and organizations are invited to participate at a level that is comfortable according to their available time and resources.

We are governed by a Board of Directors who, in turn, receives advice and input from an advisory council. We also have a Certification Board that manages the details of our CSWP certification program.

We welcome the opportunity to work with other groups in a cooperative, productive fashion to help in the wise and efficient use of water.
